Born 27th January 1893 Albert was one of seven children born to Walter and Eliza Schofield of 26 Lord Street, Bollington, Macclesfield. In 1911 Albert age 16 was working as Joiner, his father Walter and his elder brother also named Walter were working for a local brewery. Two years later, 2nd May 1913 Albert immigrated to Canada, sailing from Liverpool landing at Quebec.

Albert attested in Montreal, Quebec 29th October 1914, his given age was 21 years, he was 5ft 10 ¾ inches tall, with brown eyes and brown hair, he gave his trade as a carpenter. He was promoted to corporal 30th March 1915 at Shorncliffe. He was transferred to the 3rd battalion Canadian Infantry 3rd May 1915 in France. Albert was killed in action near to Ploegsteert Wood 7th October 1915, part of his record below shows he was shot through the head while he was sniping.
