Born in 1890 at Knutsford son of bricklayer’s labourer, John henry and Mary Jane (nee Parker), Hooley, of 103, Joseph Anderson, Street, Bradford, Manchester.

George attested at Manchester and after training was drafted to France, 16/07/1915. He was killed in action just one week before the armistice, Monday, 4 November 1918.

The Manchester Regiment was in the 17th Division, 52nd Infantry Brigade, and the Battalion war diary for 3rd October 1918, states; Battalion left OVILLERS 17:40 and into the line via VENDIGLES and POIX du NORD.
